Starting a new project...Fiber Rushed Foot Stool

Did you notice?

I don't know if you noticed from the previous pictures, but this chair has a most unusual back.  I've never come across one quite like it in the twenty odd years I've been caning and weaving chairs.  It is woven from the back ....

and from the front...

at the same time
 through the thickness of the back's frame.

What a challenge!

The Final Step... Laying the binder cane

Finally, you will take a piece of binder cane and lay over the top of the exposed holes.  I'm using a 2MM/4MM piece on this chair.  Taking a strand of cane, go up through a hole, over the binder cane and down into the same hole, pulling tight in both directions.  Then, move to the next hole and and repeat all around.

Step Six...Diagonally from right to left

You're almost done.  Weave diagonally from right to left, weaving over the double front to back and under the double side to side.

Step Five .... Over and Under Side to Side

Next you weave from side to side, going over the front to back you completed in Step Four and under the front to back from Step One and the left to right diagonal from Step Three. 

Once more ... Back to Front

Now for the fourth step, you will weave back to front again on top of the previous layers.  This will give you double rows running back to front.

Step Three.... Diagonally from Left to Right

So far, you've gone from back to front and side to side. Now you'll go diagonally from left to right, weaving under the front to back and over the side to side.

Now that you have finished running cane from back to front, let's take it side to side over the top of the first layer.
